More force is needed to turn the knob and unstick the latch.

Now wiggle the key up and down not side to side to work it out of the lock.
If the door lock button is stuck out keeping you from pressing it in jiggling the handle and moving the door is likely to shake the jammed parts together.
If you miss it in the morning and drive away nothing really happens.
This is for when the door lock button is stuck in as this is often the most common type of door button sticking.
Try to open the door while it is shut.
You can use graphite in place of spray lubricant.

The latch will not retract even when the knob is turned.
Spray a quick spurt of spray lubricant into the key hole just above the key while you jiggle the lock with the other hand.
Hold the application straw right above your stuck key aiming it into the hole.
The door latch is not extended before rotating the knob.
When the owner tries to lock the car the mechanism fails because the passenger door handle is jammed which gives the thief the ability to enter the car through the unlocked door.
Check your door as they may shove a quarter or penny into the gap like this.

Troubleshooting a stuck door latch.
To fix this you need to move the bottom of the opposite side the hinge side out in the same direction as the door is sticking out.
With the hinge side brackets attached using a block of wood placed against the outside the side opposite the hinges slightly hammer the door in the proper direction.
The knob will not turn to retract the stuck door latch.
